#3Cent Thursday | EPISODE 12

Is your home in need of some major organization and you don’t know where to begin? We’re here to help! Today, we’re sharing with you our favorite tips to get your home in shipshape once and for all!

We know for a lot of people, decluttering and organizing their home can be extremely overwhelming! And then we just don’t do it. If you’re thinking of selling, decluttering should be one of the first steps you take to get your home ready for the market. Hopefully these next tips can help you get started and make it a little more manageable!

Counting down these hottest hacks…

Don’t try to declutter and organize your entire house at once—it’s too much! Focus on one room at a time. We recommend picking either the easiest room—maybe in your home that’s the bathroom or kitchen—or your favorite room—maybe the living room or your bedroom—because this will help you feel less intimidated and give you more motivation to finish!

Our favorite! Take everything in that room and separate it into three bins. Bin #1 are things that you want to keep—which, by the way, if you haven’t used it in the past year, in most cases it’s safe to get rid of it and purge away! Bin #2 are things that you want to either sell, give away, or donate. You can have a garage sale and/or sell on local Facebook groups; give items to your friends, family, and neighbors; or donate to your local church or homeless shelter. And Bin #3 are things that are not worth donating, and you’re just going to trash them. Getting rid of items that you don’t need or even use anymore actually makes us feel better and releases stress because we are simplifying our lives in the process. In addition to making ourselves feel good, however, it feels even better to give these items to those that do need them. If you are the type of person that has a hard time parting ways, try donating these items to your favorite cause to make the letting go process easier and more fulfilling. It may even make you want to keep giving instead of holding onto excessive clutter!

This is a great time to use creative storage, get organized, and make sure everything in that Keep Bin actually fits in that space. Because if it doesn’t fit, it’s gotta go! Bye Felicia! What this will do is prevent you from acquiring more clutter, and help you keep only the things you actually need.
