TOP 3 SIGNS IT'S TIME TO STOP RENTING
Are you currently renting, and not sure how to tell when you should consider buying? Don't worry, we're here to help! Today, we're going to share with you the top three signs it's time for you to stop renting!
We know a lot of you are Millennials, and are probably still renting—which is ok—but if any of these next three signs are happening to you, it might be time to start considering buying.
Counting down from the #3 sign to the #1 sign that it's time for you to stop renting...
SIGN #3 - YOU ARE READY TO START PLANNING YOUR FINANCIAL FUTURE!
Your situation could be any number of different kinds: maybe you have a family, maybe you want to start a family, or maybe you don't want a family at all! Either way, you are thinking about your financial future, thinking about the long term, and forming a picture of what that might look like. And buying a home is a huge step towards financial security and stability!
SIGN #2 - YOU WANT THINGS YOUR WAY!
We know that might sound selfish, but hear us out! If you are renting, you may not be able to have the pets you want—or pets at all, for that matter—you may not be able to decorate the way you want, and you may be in a noisy apartment building. If you own, you can have those pets you want, you can decorate the way you want, and more than likely, you are going to have more peace and quiet! Ahhh...
SIGN #1 - YOUR RENT IS ALMOST, THE SAME, OR HIGHER THAN YOUR ESTIMATED MORTGAGE!
If we look at my (M'Lissa's) situation, for example: I bought a couple of years ago—a 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath house—and my mortgage (including principle, interest, property taxes, and homeowner's insurance, or P-I-T-I) is roughly $1725 a month. If my rent would be close to, the same, or more than what my monthly payment is now, then it makes more sense for me to own, right? If I can be paying myself that money, rather than a landlord every month, it is WAY better! So, if you're in that situation too, and your rent is similar to what your mortgage would be, we highly recommend you check into what it would take for you to own!
